I’m a grandparent, what are my custody/visitation rights?

Oregon State University’s Extension Service has anOregon Relatives as Parents Program that offers information and support for grandparents raising their grandchildren. TheirOregon Legal Guide for Grandparents and Other Relatives Raising Children is an excellent (and free) resource.

Washington County Law Library has alegal research guide on grandparents’ rights. You can also check out Oregon legal researchblog posts on grandparents and grandchildren or visit your localcounty law library to research the topic.

You can also begin your legal research process online by searching the Oregon Revised Statutes. Keep in mind this is only a starting point and you will need to consult with an attorney and/or visit a county law library to continue your research.
